Why Tax Empowerd?
I am a Chartered Accountant and SARS Registered Tax Practitioner. I have a B.Comm and B.Comm (Hons) (Accounting) from the University of Pretoria and completed my articles at KPMG. I have over 15 years experience providing strategic advice to South African and international executive management teams and company boards, mentoring trainee accountants on tax as well as engaging with internal and external audit teams. I am also a qualified Project Manager (PRINCE2®).
I have firsthand experience of todays challenges faced by corporate teams in dealing with SARS. I spent several years managing the tax department of a multi-national JSE listed entity, navigating technically challenging issues on South African and international tax implications of transfer pricing, customs, VAT, employees tax and corporate tax. As manager of an internal tax team, I developed a project management platform to proactively engage with SARS. The benefits of proactive engagement with SARS and strong internal capacity through investment in young professionals and daily support to senior management and the Board is immeasurable. Since 2013, I have been working with multi-national companies that have limited internal capacity to manage their tax affairs and offer technical advisory and compliance support to private companies.
My experience inspired the vision of Tax Empowerd; to strengthen the capacity of internal teams, offering dedicated long term support on a flexible basis and building empowering organisations to proactively engage with SARS.
